Shooter

Straight off of an Oscar nomination for his performance in The Departed, Mark Wahlberg returns to the action genre for this film that teams him with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua. Wahlberg plays former Army sniper Bob Lee Swagger, who leaves the military after he is on a mission that goes wrong. Somehow, he is convinced to go back into service for his country, but soon finds himself double-crossed and on the run. He is the subject of a nationwide manhunt and has two bullets stuck inside his body.

Mirroring The Fugitive, Swagger realizes that the only way he will survive is to take his salvation and safety into his own hands. He sets out on a mission to take revenge against those who have wronged him, which will eventually even lead him to some of the most powerful people in the country.

Along with Wahlberg, Shooter has a solid cast that includes Michael Pena (Crash), Danny Glover (who never really seems to be too old for this) and Rhona Mitra. Look for Shooter to capture some interest as it offers solid action, which has generally worked well for Wahlberg in the past. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
