Derived from the words "religion" and "ridiculous," Bill Maher's documentary Religulous looks at what Maher feels is the problem with organized religion, which is pretty much everything.

An outspoken critic of organized religion on his HBO show Real Time With Bill Maher, the comedian travels to various religious destinations around the world, such as the Vatican and Jerusalem, and interviews people of various faiths, including something called the Raelian Movement. Lionsgate was originally planning an Easter release for Religulous, but delays as a result of the WGA strike have pushed it back to October. Notable television writer and director Larry Charles directs. His last theatrical release was Borat, so he's had success at this type of thing before.

One hopes Maher gives most religions a fair shake as he attempts to understand them, but we're also counting on some trademark snark from Maher, who can be entertaining given the correct topic. As controversial as it might be, touching on a still-taboo topic, it probably won't be given much of a wide release, though. (Tim Briody/BOP)
