War, Inc.

If we can't get a Grosse Pointe Blank sequel, we'll certainly settle for the next best thing. War, Inc. reunites John Cusack, Joan Cusack and Dan Ackroyd from the 1997 dark comedy and puts them into a satire that centers on weapons sales for big bucks.

The film is set in fictional Turaqistan, which is currently occupied by an American corporation run by a former U.S. vice president (Ackroyd). Haliburton, anyone? Naturally, he's motivated by one thing â€" money. To maximize his earning potential in the Middle East, he contracts a hit man named Brand Hauser (played, naturally, by John Cusack) to assassinate an oil minister from the region. To achieve his goal, our “hero” must pretend to be a trade show producer who is organizing the big-time wedding of pop star Yonica Babyyeah (Hilary Duff). Of course, given her prima donna status, this task brings additional challenges never imagined. Making things worse is he fact that a dedicated reporter is on Brand's trail, threatening to expose his scheme.

The movie is receiving a small-scale release from distributor First Look Studios, which likely means that most of us will be waiting until the DVD release to see it. Once in that medium, it should find a small but dedicated audience. (Kim Hollis/BOP)
