Late one night a light bulb went off in screenwriter Larry Cohen's head and he came up with the screenplay for Phone Booth. Later, he had another flash of inspiration and came up with a twist on that plot. This time he wrote the script for this movie.

This time, instead of being stuck on the phone and trapped in one location, our main character has a cell phone and can move around. A young man (Chris Evans) receives a call on his cell phone from a woman (Kim Basinger). Not unusual so far. This woman say she's been kidnapped and thinks she's going to be killed soon. Now that's unusual. Apparently the kidnappers are going to go after her husband and son next. The tricky part is that she doesn't know where she is and his cell phone battery is running a little low on power. Will anyone be able to help our damsel in distress before it's too late?

Production on this film was originally supposed to begin in April 2001. It didn't start until two and one-half years later in September 2003 when distributor New Line Cinema took a chance and picked it up out of turnaround. Hopefully their confidence will pay off at the box office. (Marty Doskins/BOP)
